My ManyChat Workflow:
How I Auto-DM Links From Comments
The exact setup I use to turn every "comment below" into a real conversation, and why every creator should have this running.
Part 1 · Why ManyChat matters for creators
If you've ever written "comment LINK and I'll send it to you," you know the problem: the post takes off, the comments pile up, and you're stuck sending the same DM hundreds of times. Or worse, you miss people.
ManyChat fixes that. It watches your comments for a keyword and instantly sends a DM with whatever you promised: a free trial, a preset pack, a guide, a gear list, an affiliate link. It runs 24/7, even while I'm on set or asleep.
More reach
Every keyword comment is engagement. More comments tell the algorithm your post is worth pushing, so the post travels further.
Instant delivery
People get the link in seconds, while they're still interested. Speed alone means more clicks.
Audience you own
You can ask for an email before sending the link, which builds a list that doesn't depend on any platform's algorithm.
Better for brand deals
Clicks and DM conversations are measurable. That's proof of results you can show partners, and it makes the next deal easier to land.
Follower growth
Optionally require a follow before the link unlocks. Casual viewers turn into followers.
Time back
No more copy-pasting DMs. That time goes back into creating.
DMs also feel personal. A link in a private message gets opened far more than a link in bio that someone has to go looking for. For me it's become the most reliable way to send people from a Reel to a product, a sponsor's offer, or my own work.
Part 2 · My setup, step by step
Here's exactly how I build one of these automations. It takes about five minutes.
- 1
Click "New Automation"
From the ManyChat dashboard, go to My Automations and hit the blue + New Automation button in the top right.

Step 1The ManyChat dashboard, My Automations. - 2
Choose "Auto-DM links from comments"
This Quick Automation template is marked Popular for good reason. It sends a link when people comment on a post or Reel, which is exactly what we want.

Step 2Send a link when people comment on a post or reel. - 3
Pick which post the automation runs on
You've got three options: a specific post or reel, any post or reel, or next post or reel. I usually go with next post or reel. I set up the automation before I publish, so it's live the second the post goes up and catches the early comments.

Step 3Pick the post the automation runs on. Use "a specific post or reel" to add an automation to an older post that's still getting traction.
- 4
Set the trigger word
Under And this comment has, choose a specific word or words and type the keyword people need to comment. Separate multiple words with commas. You can also choose any word if you want every comment to get the DM.

Step 4The trigger word lives under And this comment has. Pick a trigger word that's short, easy to spell, and tied to what you're giving away, like "PRESETS," "GEAR," or "TRIAL." Tell people the exact word in your caption and on screen.
- 5
Optional: auto-reply to their comment
Turn on reply to their comments under the post and ManyChat will publicly reply to each person's comment. You can set three different reply phrases that rotate, so the replies don't all look copy-pasted. The public replies also boost the comment count on your post, which helps with reach.
- 6
Write the opening DM
Under They will get, keep an opening DM switched on. This is the first message they receive. Thank them and tell them what's coming. Add a button. They have to tap it to get the link, which starts a real two-way conversation in Instagram's eyes.

Step 6The opening DM with the Send me the link button. - 7
Optional: ask for a follow or an email first
Before the link is delivered, you can add a DM asking to follow you, and a DM asking for their email. I switch these on depending on the goal of the post. For a quick giveaway I skip them so it's as easy as possible. For a bigger resource, asking for an email is worth the extra step.
- 8
Set up the link DM
Under And then, they will get, write the message that comes with the link. Then add the link button with a clear label and paste your URL. Use + Add A Link if you want to send more than one.

Step 8The link DM with an Access Link button. Turn on a follow up DM if they don't click the link to send a gentle reminder. People get distracted, and a nudge brings a lot of them back.
Publish and post
Save and turn the automation on, then publish your post or Reel. In your caption and on screen, tell people exactly what to comment. That's it. ManyChat handles the rest.
The takeaway
A simple ManyChat automation turns comments into reach, clicks, followers and email subscribers, all without you lifting a finger after you post. If you're a creator sharing links, resources or brand offers, this is one of the highest leverage tools you can set up.
